Meet Inspirational Artist--Carol Haggiag
Sunday, February 08, 2009"Women are Stronger than Men". As a single, independent woman, I am continually inspired by the countless women that I have met along life's journey who have shown great inner strength.
As you continue to read my blog, soon you will notice that many of the books I read as part of a book club, tend to revolve around a main character who's a woman facing agonizing circumstances and incredible odds and yet find inner strength to overcome the impossible.
One such woman is Carol Haggiag. Carol is no fictional character. She's an artist and the creator of wearable art that I originally featured in my fashion blog, Krysha's Shopping Kapades. Her story is proof that one can overcome the darkest disease and survive with greater strength and beauty.
Born in Tunisia, at the age of ten her family moved to Paris, France. While pursuing academic degrees in La Sorbonne University including her Doctorate degree, Carol was drawn by the infectious culture of art in all its forms. In 1991 she moved to Miami, Florida.
Six years ago Carol began designing jewelry after being diagnosed with cancer. This was her distraction from the looming gloom that comes with cancer and it also became a creative outlet. Years earlier Carol's nimble fingers created mosaics and ceramics. Photography was also a hobby- turned -career during a brief stint with the Miami Jewish Film Festival. Designing jewelry was a new challenge, a new phase and positive force and energy in her life.
When I observed Carol at a recent art showing, her passion for life and her work was more genuine than the purest diamond ring. I knew I had to meet this woman.
In my brief interview with Carol, she shares." In my work, I attempt to create unique and original jewelry pieces that are a pleasure to wear. I am inspired by nature and every day life. Classic elegance, ethnic, contemporary as well as avant-garde design elements make this multi genre work unique."
Like many superheroes I have the honor of meeting, Carol is moving full speed ahead. No slowing down. Her next exhibit is this Tuesday. For an invitation, CLICK HERE for the details.
Carol is on the rise in the art world for her unique pieces of jewelry. Notable names like Isaac Perlman have opened his doors in the art world to Carol. Therefore, I recommend starting your own personal collection of Carol Haggiag wearable art. It will mean more than a piece of metal. It's a memorable piece of artwork with a story, Carol's story and now you can make it part of your life story.
